page Do I need a mattress foundation?
Great question! It depends on what you plan on putting your mattress on. If you have a platform bed, which is a bed with slats, then you don't need a foundation. However, if you have a traditional bed with a headboard, footboard, and rails, then you will need a foundation to sit on or in your bed rails to support the mattress. Also, if you only have a headboard, then you will need a metal frame and a foundation. You may also use a metal frame under your foundation without a headboard to keep your mattress and foundation off the floor. But if you want to put your mattress and foundation straight on the floor, we won't judge you

page What’s the difference between a foundation and a box spring?
A mattress foundation and a box spring may look similar on the outside but are different solutions when it comes to supporting a mattress. A box spring is a type of mattress base that features internal coils within a metal or wooden frame. Conversely, a mattress foundation features a series of wooden slats across a frame, which offer more stable support and less squeaking and creaking. Foundations also pair well with a wider variety of mattress types, including memory foam, hybrid, innerspring, and latex mattresses, whereas box springs are best suited for innerspring mattresses. Overall, when it comes to the crossroads of picking between a box spring or foundation, we think a foundation is your best option.
page Do I need a bed frame for my foundation?
The foundation works just like any box spring. Unless your foundation is going inside of a traditional bed (headboard, footboard, and rails setup), then yes, you will need a metal bed frame to go under your foundation to keep it off the floor. For the best support, of course, we recommend pairing your Layla® Foundation with the Layla® Bed Frame. If you happen to use another bed frame, just make sure it has a center support bar for the best sleeping experience.
