Getting out of bed in the morning can be difficult for some, especially if you experience pain or soreness when waking up. While there are many possibilities on what may be causing your pain, we can help you identify and solve some of the common reasons you may be in pain. The problem might be as simple as switching to a new memory foam mattress. Learn more below.

CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS

There are literally thousands of reasons for waking up sore in the morning. Hopefully, your experience is just temporary. Maybe you’ve recently just come across an unusual amount of stress or anxiety. If you do not have a memory foam mattress, your mattress springs could be hitting your back in all the wrong places.

Perhaps you’ve engaged in physical activity that you’re not used to. Heck, maybe someone is kicking you in your sleep. Otherwise, here’s a list of more common reasons that may relate to your personal experiences. Read through the causes below and see which solutions may apply to you.

8. Not getting enough sleep, or sleeping too much.

Get a minimum of 5 hours of sleep nightly without interruption. Do not sleep for more than 8 hours.

7. Lack of fluids in the body can cause you to feel body soreness, aches, and pains.

Drink plenty of water during the day. At least half a gallon. Drink one glass of water before going to sleep. Another great solution is to hydrate your body’s largest organ (your skin) by taking a hot shower right before bed.

6. If you are taking drugs or abusing substances your body pains may be resulting from withdrawal symptoms.

Just say no…or cut back man.

5. Exercising during the day without properly stretching before and after can build up lactic acid which can result in waking up sore.

Stretch before and after exercise. Also, give yourself a good stretch right before bed for good measure.

4. Your mattress is 6 years older or more.

An old mattress may be causing your bones and joints to be misaligned. Look to invest in a new memory foam mattress and pillow.

3. Sleeping position.

Find a sleeping position that allows you to wake up the same way you fell asleep. If you’re a side sleeper try placing a pillow in between your knees. This may help relieve lower back pressure.

2. Stress and anxiety.

Allow yourself some time to calm down and relax before going to bed. Do something you enjoy doing whatever it is.

1. Sleeping on a full stomach

Eating or drinking four hours before sleep may lead to morning soreness. Give that pie hole a rest.

Remember that depression, stress, and anxiety are all medical conditions that can also cause morning soreness. Start by looking into purchasing a new memory foam mattress. If you still find yourself waking up sore after trying some of the above solutions, it may be time to talk to your doctor.
